I have read a lot about a lot of bugs that some with the 680i like the SATA bugs, and a lot of defective boards. I was all for the 680i util i read about this, and now I am teetering towards an ASUS P5B Deluxe. What should I do?
well I could do for either one. I just want to OC my E6400 CPU to 3.2 GHZ
with corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 and a ZALMAN CNPS9500 heatsink/fan.
Now I am just worried about the mobo, will I be able to acheive 3.2 GHZ with these specs, and with either board?
I think Ill go with the eVga 680i, but I cant seem to find the things I need to avoid so it functions as well as it can. Does anyone know what connections I need to avoid with the 680i?
Oh yeah, and will I be able to run 2.1V DDR2 800 Corsair XMS2 on it, the RAM voltage is my main concern and its compatibility with the mobo.
OMEGA, whats ur RAM voltage if you got DDR2 667 up to 900?
And couldnt i just lower the RAM voltage? but could i keep up the speed?
wait, if you got urs to 2.1 volts, why wouldnt mine post with 2.1 volts?
what does post mean anyway, work?
so i couldnt even lower the voltage because the mobo wouldnt even post with it in anyway?
i think i might follow ur lead and use ddr2 667 and OC it to 800, althogh i am not that experienced, i think i know enough to do it
are you only using air cooling, because would 4 fans along with a CPU heatsink and fan and a RAM heatspreader be enough to handle the 800 2.1 volt OC? after a long period of slowly raising it and care of course

I know all about the timings, voltages, dividers, speeds, etc.
everyone has to learn at some point, but I might go with the XMS for my first build, although a nice RAM overclock looks good, but i think ill wait on that
but you think i should lower the voltage immediately just to be safe, like to 1.9 and the speed to DDR2 750 or something to start out with, or should the board be able to take 2.1 from the getgo?
