SO I got my gx2 from evga, and they didn't give me a 6 to 8 pin adapter. I've looked around on the internet, and read posts from other people who have looked around, and it seems as if the extra 2 pins in the 8 pin are just for extra grounding surface area because an 8 pin connector makes it draw more power.
My question is, do you think it would be possible for me to cut the adapters in half, use the male end of the 6+2 to 8 pin adapter, and the female of the 8 to 6 pin and make my own 6 to 8 pin adapter. Both types of connectors have 3 yellow, the 6 has 2 blacks and a brown, and the 8 has 3 blacks and 2 browns. My idea is to connect both browns to the same pin, and connect the extra black to the same pin as another black. I'd probably sauder the wires together before they meet the pins though.
If that wouldn't work, how do 6 to 8 pin adapters work?
