That's what I don't know how too read. I currently have a GTX 295 and it ran it fine until it recently broke. Now it overheats. Looking to RMA, sell, and get a GTX 580. I'm just afraid it wouldn't run right!

What are some symptoms of underpowering a graphics card?

How much will the rest of my PC bottleneck the 580?
 
An underpowered GPU usually makes a whining sound. This is usually shortly followed by a system crash.

I also used to have a 295 before I got my 580's. Remeber that the 295 demands a lot of power due to its dual chip arrangement. It's basically SLI on a single PCB. If your PSU could run that then it shouldn't have a problem with a single 580.

Having a 24" monitor, I'm guessing that your resolution is 1920 x 1200. This may cause your cpu to be a slight bottleneck, but nothing substantial I wouldn't have thought. The higher the resolution, the less of a bottleneck the cpu will be.

You have twin 580s? Man that power must be insane. What games do you use that setup for?

I have just about every game that's worth having haha. Looking forward to Portal 2 unlocking itself on Steam in a few days time.

I game on a 30" monitor @ 2560 x 1600, so if I want maximum detail and AA in games like BFBC2, Crysis, JC2 etc then the second 580 is really needed. I found two of them to be incredibly loud and hot though. That's why I added the waterloop. It also allows me to give them a tasty overclock too.

I have only played Crysis at 1680x1050. I can't imagine what it looks like at 2560x1600... omg!

What games would you say rival Crysis in graphics?

Metro 2033, Just Cause 2, BFBC2 to name but a few. Some of the racing games look fantastic too. At full settings F1 2010 looks great.

Yeh gaming at 2560 x 1600 and full setting is very immersive. If you want to see really impressive graphics, have a look at the Unreal 3 engine. It almost looks like real life. Quite incredible!
 
The games you mentioned aren't using the Unreal 3 Engine, right?

I found a trailer using it and holy cow, it looks incredible.

I don't think i'd get quite the performance you do from your PC but I am pretty sure i'll do alright! :-)

I could play BFBC2 on full settings btw using the 295. Just not in DX11. :-/ it looked great, but I don't think it looked as good as Crysis 1.
