Evga step-up.

I have got 30 days left on the Evga step-up program with my 7950gt.

Should I use it and upgrade to a 8800gtx or wait say 6 months and sell my 7950gt to get a dx10 card then.

Thanks Matt

I can upgrade to the 8800GTX for about £200 or the 8800GTS for £100 with the step-up program.

The only reason to wait is so I could get a better dx10 card when more come out.

I don't want to spend a lot on a 8800GTX now when in 6 months time better DX10 cards will come out and the 8800GTX won't be one of the best cards.

The price of ALL dx9 are going to fall when dx10 becomes more varied.. the price you can get for your 7950gt in 9 months could be drastically less than the full price trade in deal EVGA offers. So yes i agree That waiting would be best to get the best dx10 has to offer, just don't expect the money you'd get for a 7950gt to play a big part of the purchase.

So in the end it's up to you and your budget. If you can spend alot of money on a video card wait off for awhile till more variety has been added to the pot. If money is more of a issue then i'd suggest a gts/gtx. They Won't be the most powerful cards at that point, nothing to laugh at either. :)

I think I might keep the 7950GT for now as its a good card and I won't get vista for some time yet plus none of my games support DX10 so I won't miss that much.

I still have 30 day left to think about it though.

How do you use the step-up program?

If you buy a Evga graphics card then you can upgrade to a better one within 90 days and you only pay the difference between the two cards.

Q: How much is Step-Up?
A: The Step-Up™ Program is free; you are required to pay the difference between your original invoice price, less any applicable rebates, and the price of the new card, plus any applicable tax and shipping. The program itself has no cost associated with it.

it was the fourth question in the link.:P

the 8800GTX is still gunna be a nice card, its just an 8900GTX and GTS will come out and etc etc just like what happend with the 7800GTX and GT,so i say you might as well take advantage of that step up program before the 7950 gets you alot less.Plus,6 months from now, sure your card wont be the best, but it'll still be high end..and 12 months from now,say hello to the 9 series lol.
