Excel Help Required

Hello All

I am using Excel 2003 and by mistake i have deleted one the file which is important for me after that with the help of a software i have recovered that file but that are in .tmp format and now when i open that one then is shows the error message
"The file you are trying to open is in different format than specified by the file extension."

Kindly tell me is there any way to open that recovered .tmp file in Excel with the formatting.

I take it in desperation you tried changing the file extension from .tmp to .xls then tried opening it.

After changing is from .tmp to .xls it shows the same error message.

Try some software which can recover deleted data. You may want to know how files are deleted to understand exactly the possible results of the application: http://www.computerforum.com/129508-how-deleting-files-work.html

One of the applications that can do that is TuneUp utilities (one of the tools which is included). But if that file was already overwritten (as explained in the thread above), it's not possible to recover it.
