Exchange Server

Hello, we have a small server set up in our office with Microsoft server 03 on it and exchange server is set up and running as we host our own email and website. I did not set it up and was hired on after it was set up.

I am having a problem with Exchange not sending emails to certain domains (ex. @aol.com) whenever someone in the office tries to send an email to one of these domains we get an automated email saying:

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.

I have looked around and searched for some type of setting that says what type of domains can and cannot be reached but have not found anything.

If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks for the time!

You blocking their server via some hosts file?

Man you are going to have to contact MS on this one if this is a live server. I am assuming you can't take it down because it is being used all the time, and I also assume that whatever the guy did to it may be a needle in a haystack.

I am sure there are commands from the command line for exchange that can clear out or reset any sort of email restrictions.

You said this only doesn't work if emailing AOL? All other email domains work?

Not all others, @bellsouth.net does not work and others, just don't have them written down right now!

Yeah cannot take it offline because too much is done off of it.

Exchange has a decent command line interface I am willing to bet your answer lies with in that. I just don't know off the top of my head as I don't fuss with Microsoft servers any more.

I am now getting Delivery Status Notification Delay emails

I took care of a lot of problems I was having by getting Reverse DNS set up. But now all of a sudden I get these emails when sending to domains like @charter.net.

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed.

[email protected]

I have looked around and could not find a solution. I thought that when I got the reverse DNS going that I would not get these type of emails but they are still coming. I can now send to @aol.com which was a problem before.

If anyone can help it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
