.exe.ddf?

all of a sudden on some of our network drives most .exe have become .exe.ddf now not every .exe. has this but alot do i had a quick search and said it was "damaged data file" but it seems to wide spread for this, has anyone come across this before or have any idea ?

There are a few things it could be. But since you are on a work network there is so much that may be at issue here I cant really pin one thing down. DDF file types can be quite a few things, but in your case it may just be that makecab uses those files. Or it could be an infection.
