I have just purchased a new toshiba laptop with windows vista, however when i try to run any game, i get a message saying... "(game) HAS STOPPED WORKING" after about 10 seconds of the game running. Has anybody got any ideas of what this could be? I've tried using games in xp compatibility mode and installed and ran regcure but to no effect. any help would be much appreciated.

How much ram. that would be the 1st i would look at.
Somebody will ask what game and specs on the laptop.

hi, thanks for your reply :) its got 2gb of ram and a 2.1 ghz processor, i think its suitably capable to play the games i have tried so i dont hink thats the problem  i've got a hunch its something to do with vista as they seem to work on my desktop which runs xp

If u just purchased a new toshiba laptop, have u installed any updates yet?
u should try to install at least SP1 on him.

It can also be that Windows Vista is installed on that laptop like crap.Maybe they did a bad install. It wouldn't surprise me.When I got my Toshiba Mini NB200 laptop,it had XP on it,but everything was working like sh!t and my mouse wasn't even working in SAFE MODE at all loooooool!!!Plus it had bunch of crap installed and registry was all messed up...Just simply make a fresh Windows install and everything should be fine ;)

I agree.

Maxligema.Try what Canivari told you first.Install at least SP1 because as we all know Vista was so buggy when it first came put.Install at least SP1 and see if that helps. You can also install SP2 too.If that doesn't fix the problem, format the HDD and make a fresh Windows Vista install...

thanks for all your replies, i''ve installed sp1 and sp2 now now to no effect either :( i'm looking to get a windows 7 disc soon though which will hopfully sort it out. In the meantime, if i do a fresh vista install, does it delete all my data?
