Explorer.exe being idiotic?

Every time i boot up/reboot my computer, upon getting into windows I am greeting by this:

It is becoming a bother seeing as how I just formatted twice in the past month. Do I have to format again? or can this error be fixed by chance?

Any help is appreciated!
 
Try disabling a few startups found in the msconfig utility to see what is crosslinking itself to system files and going after a reserved memory address. You probably saw a bad install of one of the programs needing removal and reinstallation rather then reformatting the drive.
 
Probably not related to my first problem, but can anyone tell me why it is asking me to select a program to view my D: on?

EDIT: I removed AVG, Spybot S&D, and Adaware 2007 or whichever the newest version is, and the error subsided! Thanks PC Eye

AVG generally goes on good without problems. It would a surprise to see that as the problem in most cases. I can easily suggest a few replacements for Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D since you are running Vista with IE 7. You won't need Ad-Aware's browser hijacker protection like seen with IE 6.

The one program that finds more data miners and puts a mild form of firewall more of a protective shield to alert you to any software changes even when removing as well as new startups would be the Spyware Terminator found at http://www.spywareterminator.com/

AVG also has a few other good ones like their anti-malware and anti-rootkit utilities seen along with their new antivirus program for Linux at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free

Glad to see the problem was cleaned up there. Whenever seeing that type of error come up you have to review any recent addons to discover if that is the cause.
 
You'll definitely want Ad-Aware 2007 or the older version still found at http://www.snapfiles.com/get/adaware.html That would be for isolating and removing any browser hijackers since Ad-Aware will go right into the registry after any of that type of entries found.

For XP I tried and then swiftly removed the Vista themes and don't even use those or the gadgets Vista comes with since running both versions here presently. The programs there run on both versions without worry about not being Vista. Of course with IE 7 in use on XP as well as Vista I didn't reinstall Ad-Aware again on XP.
 
either this problem with the virus in your pc or might be in your internet explore. you should reinstall it and update your avg online and scan all drives.....

The problem there was software related and probably from Ad-Aware 2007 and the new Ad Watch feature they added to it. I ran some beta tests on that when it was first released on XP and had to remove it until the finished version later went on ok.

Regardless the usual solution found is first removing a program followed by a fresh reinstall to sorrect any problems. From what has been found here after having run all three of those programs is that the Spyware Terminatir does seem to outperform two out of three while keeping AVG as the antivirus program.
