explorer.exe not loading properly

subtle

When my computer starting up there is something wrong with explorer.
Startup items aren't loading, Taskbar doesn't work, on desktop is only 2 icons out of 13.
When i roll over Taskbar the arrow is changing into "busy".

I need to kill explorer in Task Manager and run it again (from Task Manager) and then it's loding properly (except startup items of course).

I tried to run "xp taskbar desktop fixall.vbs and Taskbar Repair Tool Plus!".
I also run the sfc /scannow command.

Nothing from the above helped.

Any Ideas?

i know this maybe a bit dumb but have you tried repairing your windows installation ?..which xp is this, home or Pro ?

No. I didn't. Till yesterday :)
After "repair" i got black screen, and nothing else ;)
I've managed to fix that now, but the explorer.exe is still not running properly.

chkdsk /r does more than just scan for bad sectors, it scans for and repairs software corruption.

since explorer.exe is part of windows UI you can try this method first, then an overlay of the OS second, and your third option is a wipe and reload. You have to make sure you use the /r tag though, otherwise it will not be as thorough.

an overlay would be like an overinstall so to speak. It is a clean install of the OS with out a format. Meaning your data is intact but the OS gets a clean install and a whole new registry. This will break most of your applications, but some may still run, and all your data will be there.

however, make sure you have current back ups, because at any time the machine could crash.

OK.
I'll run the chkdsk /r and if that won't help i'll probably clean-indstall Pro.
I'll let you know if it helped or not (the /r switch).
