OK,

I click on My Computer, then go to localdisk C:\.

C:\ opens up, then it just freezes. Not my whole comp - everything else works fine around it, just that window. It just stops responding.

All other folders on my C: drive work fine.

I attached a HijackThis log, I didn't recognise anything dodgy in it though.

I had a similar problem in my PC where whenever I open MY COMPUTER, the PC pretty much freezes (obviously tells me that the computer is unable to read one of the hard drives or disc drives). I actually got rid of it by simply using mcafee antivirus and disk check (scandisk equivalent of Windows XP) - it appeared to be a type of virus eating away .exe files :D. However, in your case, it might be that explorer is missing some files and therefore cannot use them to explore C:\ (this might also be caused by a virus).

Hi,

it could be a network drive. That was causing the same problem that you are facing now in my particular case. All it took was disconnecting it and the problem went away.

JAN :D
