Explorer not starting

My computer is giving me an error "windows explorer has stopped working" and then says it will restart. It does not fix anything when it restarts. I cannot get into anything from my start button. As soon as I leave the start button I get this error and it just continues. I can however get into things by my computer. Can anyone give me any suggestions as to how to solve this problem???

what o.s have you got?? xp , Vista or windows 7??

if your using vista or windows 7 go to start > type cmd > right click cmd and then click run as administrator, probably be prompted for a password, if you have one type it in, then click continue, then at command prompt type sfc /scannow and press enter and just be patient as windows will attempt to find any corrupted files. also you may be prompted to insert your o.s cd so have it handy

also you could try this

click on start menu and go to network, click on organize at the upper right corner of the window, a drop down window will pop up, click on folder and search options, on the folder window, you will see three tabs at the upper-right hand corner, click on view, and select alway's show icons, never thumbnail, next, deselect display file icon on thumbnails, click o.k and hopefully it will be o.k

When is the problem occuring? Once in a while or every time your computer starts up or after the computer has been running for a while?
