explorer problem!

Hello all,
well, all things in My PC seems fine, until recently, where the explorer infrequently keep closing and then starting up (i.e. restarts itself), so why is that?

Can you give us some more details, when it crashes what are you doing? or are you doing nothing?

Are we are talking explorer.exe right?

well, I work normally on the computer, well not running a very big program, just power point,lets say,, media player,

but I am not connected to an internet or lAN

What I can suggest is that you put in your Windows XP boot CD and then select to repair an installation and then choose your current Windows install, see if the problem occurs then

(Data loss is VERY unlikely to occur from doing this)

Or you could a system restore to the time when explorer works fine.

so we are talking about the explorer.exe right? basically the whole interface... when it happens.. the start menu disappears, anything ur doing disappears..?

or the ieexplorer.exe. internet explorer?

just needed to get that straight cuz it can confuse at times.

well, is there an error that pops up? maybe something like... drwin.exe that pops up as an error right after? or does it just restarts and everything looks normal again with no pop up error?

well the whole explorer will be off (like the start button, the task bar, ......)but then I've to wait for some time (usually some seconds)before everything goes right again,so it is the explorerand there is no pop-up being sent to me
