its not the screen size that really affects battery life, but rather the hardware. Be sure that you have speed step or cool and quiet enabled, and if your GPU isnt integrated, and is Nvidia, that you let it use optimus (auto downclock to save energy).
Turn your backlight down to the lowest possible setting that you can see it. on me acer thats fn + left arrow, and I keep it all the way down.
Remove any devices that you are not using, such as USB keyboards, mice, Flashdrives, add on lights, anything that draws power from your computer. Also set it to power saver mode in windows (Vista and 7 only).
