External Apps not connecting to the intertnet!

I have a Rapidshare.com premium account. For the past few months, I've been clicking on one file link at a time, selecting the "premium" button, choosing a download server, and waiting for the download to begin.

Recently, I've been trying to use download "managers" to select all of the File links and have the software automatically download them. This would be alot easier than going through the aforementioned process, say, 40 times for a 40-part archive.

I went to my Rapidshare.com options and enabled "Direct Downloads" so that when I enter a file link into my browser, it downloads it automatically and that is working just fine.

But I've tried six download managers, among them FlashGet, GetRight, Orbit, Two Mozilla Addons FlashGOT and DownThemAll -

And NONE of them will download a single file. Connection error, Network unavailable, etc., etc. or the software will just lag infinitely.

I have disabled all anti-virus, antispyware, firewall, and other security software(s).

Concurrently, I am unable to connect any of my messenger/IM/Chat softwares to the internet. "Connection Failed. AIM was unable to connect."

I updated (or, TRIED to update) SpyBot - Search and destroy, It downloaded most of the updates, but when it needed to download additional files, I got a "File Download" window, with the message "Error Sending Request. A Connection with the server could not be established."

So it appears that I am unable to connect to the internet through any softwares aside from my browser (Firefox). I have a 5MB/s cable internet through Charter.

I'd appreciate ANY pointers or tips on this one. It's driving me CRAZY.

You have a router? If so then it sounds like the programs cant connect to the right ports. Is upnp enabled on the router, if you have one?

Scratch that - I was unknowingly connected to the neighbors wireless.

I have a belkin Wireless G router and I've gotta do a hard-reset before I can get into the system but I believe I can locate the uPnP settings there.

What I meant was - apparently the WRT54G is a Linksys router and when I did an ipconfig inquiry I was not on my own network.

I have tested my UPnP settings with the "UPnP Test Program" v1.15 (C) Mark Gillespie 2005. The results are as follows:

TEST 1 - Operating System Support - PASSED
TEST 2 - SSDP Service Running Check - PASSED
TEST 3 - SSDP Service Automatic Check - PASSED
TEST 4 - UPnPHost Service Running Check - PASSED
TEST 5 - UPnPHost Service Automatic Check - PASSED
TEST 6 - UPnP Framework Firewall Exception Check - PASSED
TEST 7 - Adapter #0 - 192.168.2.2 - FAILED
TEST 8 - Get External IP Address - FAILED

- It took some effort to get the first five tests to pass (excluding Test 1). Now I'm in a position where I've exhausted all other possibilities and cannot get Test 7 to pass.

Apparently, in order for Test 7 to pass, I need to enable UPnP from within my router settings. Unfortunately, my router (A Belkin 54G, firmware Version 9.01.07) refuses to save the UPnP settings as "enabled" and forces the system to keep UPnP disabled.

I also found this, which details both the exact same router and exact same issue. The only difference is that I've got a slightly bit newer firmware version.

Any more ideas? :)
