external drive operating system

I have a EVGA 790i ultra Sli motherboard. I was wondering if anyone knows if it will boot up an operating system on an external usb hard drive. The bios has nothing about usb booting or external devices booting. The drive has windows xp but i'm sure it works.

No, I don't think most any OS is very happy with booting from a USB device. However, you could probably use esata.
