External DVD Player to PC Monitor

Hi,
I have bought a dvd player which has
- 2 Video Inputs and 1 Output
- S-Video Output
- 1 Component Video Output

because it is has surround sound i am wanting play dvds in the external player but view the video on my computer monitor. I could play the dvd in my comptuer but then then the sound would not be in surround sound format when played through the external dvd player. However my video card has only a monitor output, component video out and s-video out but no inputs.
So my question is 'is there a way to play the dvd in the external dvd player but put the video through my pc monitor. Like are there any cables that have a component video adapter on one end and a fitting to fit a monitor cable on the other end?

I am thinking i will just have to get a video capture card...but is there any way of achieving want i want cheaply?

You could connect the player to your monitor through an S-video to VGA adapter (like this one: http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/video-vga-gvm-2000.html), but I recommend a video capture card instead because it has more functionality.
