Hi all. Im thinking of purchasing an external hard disk (200GB - iomega). The one im talking about can be found directly here:

http://www.iomega-europe.com/eu/products.aspx?productid=harddrive_desk_silver_200gb

i have a wireless network set up in my house. Me and my da have laptops. I was just wondering if it would be possible to use this hard disk as a wireless storage hard disk so that we can both access the hard disk wirelessly. And also what would it take to do this? does the hard disk have to be constantly connected to an always on computer to be able to be accessed wirelessly by the other 2 laptops?

Thanx all forumin advance.

Yes and NO...How about that for an answer

yes you can use it for "online storage" and no, not the way you are thinking.
you will more then likely have to attach the iomega to a notebook ( this iomega is an external hd....right ?) using the usb interface. If your notbook does not have usb v2, you need to get a usb v2 pcmcia card , so you can take full advantage of the usb hd. USB V2 can be up to 480 times faster than usb v1.1 . You will also have to install a workgroup and share the external Iomega HD. You probably would then want to map a drive letter to the external so it will show in windows explorer.

here is a how to for peer to peer
