External hard drive problem

I just bought a brand new Western Digital 1.5 TB external hard drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136505)

So I hooked it up right. My computer noticed it right away and I reset the PC just in case. It was working fine. But like an idiot, I pressed "Format" and it started to format... realizing this was stupid since it didn't need to be formatted (I'm using Windows Vista, btw), I clicked Cancel.

Then it started to say access denied, said it was 0 bytes. I reset again, and it was detected on My Computer but it required a full format. So I started to format and it's been going a long time with barely no progress... did I screw up my hard drive? Will it work again? Anything I should do?

Go into disk manager by typing into your search box on the start menue right the the drive and click delete volume on the drop down list and then click the right click the harddrive again and click on create drive letter. Worked for my on my 250 GB harddrive
