Been doing a lot of searching on this problem for the last couple of weeks, usually I am tech-savvy enough to figure out my own computer problems, but this one has eluded me and I hate to admit that I need help.
About two months ago, I was watching a show on my PS3 via my external hard drive (a Seagate 500 GB) when it decided to power down. It would fire up again, but only momentarily before shutting down. I took it apart, and figured out the power source was messed up, and ordered replace adapter, SATA cords, and the works. I took the drive, hooked it up to a computer, and it was working fine. I began moving my music over to a computer drive, and after an hour or so, it hit a corrupted file. Thought that was fine, removed that file, began again, and the computer stopped recognizing the drive altogether. Now, I can plug it in to any computer and have it be read, but only for a couple of minutes, and it is EXTREMELY slow to open any folders, and files cannot be opened. Files are also just altogether missing. I've tried the adapters I have been using on other hard drives and they have worked fine. I tried the freezer trick to no avail as well. Am I completely screwed here? I've looked up every possible solution, but I don't think I can do data recovery since my computer won't recognize the drive for very long. Any help with this problem would be a godsend, thank you all in advance.
