External Hard Drive

I need an external hard drive mainly for media storage and to back up word files. I'd like it to not require an external power source so it could double as a portable storage. What are some models for me to look for, and some to stay away from? Thanks.

Well, oyu can get a 2.5 inch one, and you can run it out of two USB ports.

You can get a 3.5 inch one and that will have to have external power.

What is going to be the main use of the portable hard drive???
