External Hard Drive

hello, i just bought a external hard drive enclosure for my 160gb seagate hard drive. I installed the hard drive and formatted it (used to be used as main hard drive on another computer). For some reason after formatting it it shows as 31.4GB. I know this is not right. And at first i thought it was in fat32 but i then checked it and im pretty sure its not. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?? thanks again

Do you have any data on the drive? If not you can just delete the partition and recreate it in Disk Management (Start->run->diskmgmt.msc). If you do have data on the drive (assuming XP) you'll need a 3rd party tool to resize the partition.

i deleted the partition, but now nothign is there and i dont know how to remake one can you please tell me?

i cant even find the drive now like nothing comes up at all so what do i need to do now???? : (

Stay in Disk Management with the drive plugged in. In the bottom of the right pane there will be a part that says 'Unallocated Space' it might also say 'Unpartitioned' or something similar. Right click on it and pick create partition and that will start up a wizard to guide you through the rest.
