Hey guys,
ive recently bought a seagate 500GB Freeagent External HDD and want to run Windows XP on it not to fussy which version. but so i can put all my files along with the OS on this hard disk and take it with me anywhere.
Ive been through tutorials following instructions but cannot master how to do it. nothing seems to work.
can anybody help?
or give me the files i need?

You can't make a generic windows install the same way you can with a Linux live cd. The closest would probably be BartPE but BartPE isn't what you are looking for here.

Why do you want to run your own OS install?

I just want the operating system on the external hard disk and copy all my files onto it so i can effectivly run it on anycomputer

so long as the bios ect supports usb devices.

I don't know of anyway to do that with windows. There are lots of live *nix versions that can do it though.

Portable Hard Drive

I a shopping for an portable external Hard Drive and welcome all ideas as to what is the best price for the money. I have an desktop with XP operating system. I am fussy as to it being 500GB or even 300GB if it makes sense.

Another consideration in my shopping is that I live in Canada and would prefer having a deal where I can readily purchase the product and not have to have hassles if I need to return it.

I am currently waiting for a shipment from Tiger Direct here in Ontario that is out of stock on a 400GB for $100 Canadian.

Thanks for your input
