External Hard drives on Desktop question

I have 6 external hard drives connected to my desktop computer I am using a I7 16 GB Ram 2 TB Hard drive machine it seems that ever since I upgraded my Lightroom Photo editing software my computer is running slower than before my question is does having that many external hard drives have any effect on the computers performance?

Depends what interface you use. If they're all on USB 2.0 then they're sharing the same bus.

Otherwise CPU/RAM/etc should have no impact.

Thank you for your reply 2 of them are on usb 2.0 attached to the front usb ports of the computer

Between your USB2 ports, you have 60 MB/s of transfer speed.
One SATA port (typical HDD internal port) you get around 600MB/s per port. Most HDDs don't use more than 125-150MB/s though.
