External hard drives

Good morning everyone (UK time),

Just joined the forum and have a question. Is there any easy reason why my desktop computer wont recognise any mobile hard drive? USB memory sticks are fine. I'm running windows XP. Thanks David

well maybe you need to update you drivers?
if not then im sorry i dont know, you could always do a fresh install of your OS?

No need to reinstall an OS due to external hard drive issues. Just make sure the hard drive gets read by other computers. And if it does, then reinstall your usb drivers.

Thanks for the replies, my laptop reads the external hard drive, so I'll try reloading usb drivers.
