External Hard Drives

Was wanting to back up my system. And i plan on doing it as simple as possible. I really want to clean my hard drive back out 2 day one. So i plan on buying a decent ex HD and copying all villes over ti it b4 i reformai it. Is this a good idea or is their an easier way?

that's good idea.. always make a back up.

If your upgrading from Vista to W7 or doing a fresh install of W7 it should automatically make a full backup of everything in a folder called Windows.old under your C drive. Having said that, don't rely on it and make a backup of all your data anyway. External HDD's are very handy and is probably your best/easiest option.

What I normally do is just backup all my documents then wipe everything else and reinstall all the programs I need after.
