External hard rive enclosures

I am transfering my data off my laptop before i do a system restore. I need to buy an external enclosure. I know my laptop has a 2.5'' hard drive but i would like to know if a 3.5'' enclosure will hold it and read from it before i buy one? Many thanks
 
You do not need to make a new thread for every question you have...

If your hard drive is SATA(which I think it is), you do not need an enclosure if the desktop you're using also has SATA. If the drive is IDE/PATA, a standard 3.5" enclosure will not work.
