my external harddrive wont power on i have checked the cable and the fuse so is neither of those.i have go 350gb of my data on there what is the best way to retrieve that data thx

Don't break the case but if you can open it up then you can install the disk internally and get the data off that way.

i undone it before and it does not look like you can get it out without breaking it.if i break the power case can you get a new one.
and when you say internal do u mean in a pc

Don't touch the power case. Besides getting shocked, it should be fine. If anythings wrong with it, just look for a replacement.

I think Cromwell was refering to the drive itself, and pulling the drive out and using it as an internal drive.

To "remake" the enclosure, yes. But you don't need it to access your data.

Also, I had one of those. VERY, VERY cheap and brittle plastic on the ends...

to access my data i would have to take the hard drive out the enclosure.throw the other enclosure away.if i wanted it external buy a new enclosure is that correct

yep. Just pick up another enclosure. You should be fine, well provided it's the the old enclosure that's the problem, not the drive.

its defo the enclosure just one more problem now it is a 4" harddrive and i cant find any 4' enclosures anyone know anywhere really don my head in now
