External Hardrive issues

I own a Maxtor One Touch 4 Plus (1TB) and it was working as it should. i began using it on my new computer which has Vista Ultimate 64 operating system. About 2 weeks after i began using it with my new computer the drive crashed.

I got my friend an Western Digital 1TB drive for Christmas which he plugged into his laptop for use (also running Vista Ultimate 64) and it almost immediately crashed.


Has anyone else had issues with external drives working with Vista?


i just ordered an external Western Digital 2TB Raid drive and am in fear of it crashing when i begin using it with my Vista operating system.

I would contact Maxtor, i think they would have a warranty, so you could get a replacement.

Personal Built external hard drives always work the best :P

yes, they indicated that i would receive a new drive but it does not help the issues i am having. i am now worried even with a new drive, i will have this problem again.
