External HD Doesn't Work

I have a SimpleTech simpledrive 160GB hard drive. At first, it wouldn't turn on. I've tried to plug it in to a diff AC adapter, and it did turn on. Now... After turning it on, I don't hear it running at all. I've tried to connect it to the computer via USB 2.0 And of course, XP didn't detect it at all.... Any suggestions?

Yeah, it did. It worked fine for about a year and 8 months... For some reason, the AC adapter it came with stopped working today..... Some weird stuff :\
