Did you click the message to see if the so-called "assistance" is of any value? You never know. Sometimes good things happen in the OS support.

A good reason to get a backup procedure in place.

I tried it on another computer yes, I dropped the HD and then plugged it in and now it reads that On both computers. THe HD run's when i plug it into the USB port. So im thinking it didn't die? Im not sure what a Crashed HD does if it runs or not. Im thinking it may be the USB part of it?

It was of No assistance it simply states "Recommendation, Try reconnecting the Device, If Windows still does not recognize it, Replace the device.

Yep, not surprising that the OS support was not really helpful, but it was worth a shot. Have you tried a different USB cable? Does your external drive offer an alternative way to connect to the computer like firewire? If so, give that a try. Otherwise if the data is really important, you may be looking at sending it to a very expensive data recovery service company. Personally, I might try to pry that drive out of the enclosure to see what other connection options there might be (SATA or IDE), but if the data on it is business critical, I'm not really sure that is a good idea. Others here might have some ideas. Good luck. And once you get this sorted, please implement a backup procedure. :)

OH well, SHit happens. There are not other ways of connecting it other then USB. Stupid Western digital. Oh well, Live and Learn.
