Hi guys, i'm new to the forum. I am coming here in desperate need of help and people that wont give me dumb, illiterate, illogical answers.

First off i got a external hdd.
my problem is that I plugged it into a Xbox360 to view movies off of it and then it stopped working. The xbox was not my xbox it used to work perfect on mine. But i plugged it into somebody elses and now it wont recognize the HDD on anything. It wont show up in my computer, and it also wont show up on my xbox. There is nothing wrong with the HDD whats so ever its perfectly fine because it worked before. I cant find it in disk management either. I dont know why this happens but it happened to my friends HDD also one time. I have countless hours of movies on there that i dont want to lose. I know there is nothing wrong with it. The first time this happened I only had a few movies on it and i just plugged it into the xbox and formatted it through there and then it worked fine again. But now i have tons of movies on it and i dont want to lose them. there has to be some technical situation and answer to this problem. I know for a fact it is not mechanical.

If anyone can save me from this external hd hell, it would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU

Unfortunately, that's exactly what it sounds like-- your drive just picked that opportune time to fail.

There are utilities that may still access the drive; the one that comes to mind is Spinrite, though it costs a bit. In the past, I relied on Spinrite to access and recover data off of dying drives and even repair a few. No guarantee that it would work in your case, though.

And again we come to a hard lesson on the value of backing up data.
