OK, it is time for me to call upon all your expertise.

I have a generic 2.5" enclosure and a SAMSUNG 80GB 2.5" HDD. I plugged it in, and it works like a champ.

Well, At least it used to... It worked so well for such a long time... Life isnt fair!

Just yesterday I took it to a friends house to transfer some photos (I do this all the time). But just this time, It detected, and then just... disappeared. I thought it wouldnt work with his computer so I brought it home and tried. No. It didnt work. It just wont show up. I can hear the HDD work for like 5 secs after being plugged in and it just then... stops. The blue LED keeps flashing.

The LED on the enclosure flashes... but nothing detects. I have pulled my hair out. Ive tried the same cable with my camera and it works... But I havent tried it with another enclosure.

Get a new HDD you say? Well, unfortunately, its not that simple.

It would be at chollora dump by now if it didnt contain so much important data. I neeeeed THAT DATA. AT ANY COST.

So what do you think is the problem? How do I fix it? Please dont tell me the HDD is gone...

Can someone plz help me?

Most likely, the problem is with the enclosure... right?

if it is able to be detected you can try a recovery program. you can also try putting it in the freezer for 24 hours and then grab whatever files you need. it really works but for how long it really depends.

OMG are you serious? There is a lot of condensation that happens within a freezer... right?

And no.. It doesnt detect

Did I mention that the enclosure cost $15?

Anyways, what do you think is the problem, the HDD or the enclosure?

I'd suspect the drive because the enclosure keeps flashing but I don't have enough experience with them failing to say for sure.

i just tried a sata drive that i frozed for 48 hours and the pc was able to detect it. put it in a ziploc bag and when it thaws try to wipe the water so it will go to the board.
