External monitor resolution problem

Hi there,

I have a Dell laptop e6400 latitude, win 7 64Bit,
with monitor adapter- Intel 4 series express chipset famile.

I bought a new external monitor, a BENQ GW2255 and connected it to the laptop with a dvi cable through the docking station.

The problem is that when trying to change the resolution to the "native " resolution of the screen (1680*1050) i cannot do it since the highest resolution available in the "resolution" section of the display options in the control panel is 1440*900.
I updated the monitor adapter driver...

What else can i do?

Thanks allot for your help!!

Are you trying to extend the displays or duplicate them?

I want to use the new screen as the main screen. Because of the low resolution everything is little blur and my eyes get tired

Press FN + F8 and select Projector Only. That will push the video out to only the external monitor.
