I have a dvi kvm switch connected to 2 laptops. I tried to connect it to the laptop (vga port) via an adapter but nothing happens. I then tried doing it directly from dvi to vga (no kvm) and it still does not work. Anyone have any advice? the machine is a lenovo t61p, the video card supports 1920x1080 (monitor).
Thanks (its driving me crazy not being able to figure it out)

the other laptop is a macbook, so im using an adapter dvi to mini display port. But atm i just am using 2 inputs on the monitor. The Dvi is going to the apple and the vga is going to the t61p. I am just using the kvm switch to switch the keyboard and mouse (and just changing the input on the monitor settings). Im ordering a new adapter to see if the current one is faulty. It does not seem to work on windows, im tempted to install linux and see if it will work (ive also updated the nvidia 570m graphics card driver).

Not every DVI port supports analog. Confirm whatever monitor your using will accept an analog signal. Maybe try it on another monitor if possible. Maybe try your laptop on a VGA monitor.
