Extremely odd networking issus

I'm really beginning to get frustrated here... A couple days ago, I noticed my laptop would be surfing the net just fine then no sites would load. I later confirmed I couldn't even connect to/ping my router or anything on the network.

At first I figured it was a failing router, so I took another one and swapped it out. However, the problem presented itself soon after the swap, so it's not the router.

I took the laptop to work and used it almost all day. I even updated the drivers to the latest ones. It never gave me one hiccup. I come back home, and it starts acting up again!

I pull out another laptop and try it and everything seems fine. I start using this one and they both go out! Oh, but even when the wifi goes down, wired internet works fine.

I'm about to try Linux. I attempted to use the copy of Ubuntu I had on disk, but it didn't have drivers for my wireless card so I'm getting the latest version.

What sort of wireless adapter are you using? Built-in wireless NIC? What is the signal strength like when it is working? Also, have you checked to see if there are other routers in your area that are using the same wireless channel? I had headaches w/ my wireless for a while - then I noticed mine was set on channel 6, and there were three other networks nearby using that channel too... I changed my channel to 11 and haven't had problems since...

It's a very new machine, that SU4100 mentioned below (Toshiba T135). I tried different channels after posting this but no difference. Various channels, auto setting...it all screws up in the end.

I'm doing a wedding tomorrow, but I plan on taking my laptop around and trying it on various networks to try and isolate the problem. I'm just becoming very pissed off at all this...

Go figure... I just went into where the router was kept for one final check tonight and I realized something. Our kitchen is being redone so various items are places throughout the house. Located right below the router was a wireless weather station/atomic clock. From what I recall the problem started about 2 days ago (when that was placed there). Geeze... I don't know if I should feel happy that it's (apparently) solved or kick myself for overlooking such a stupid issue and coming close to ripping apart this laptop.

But yeah, that would explain it... I know every few minutes it sends out a signal trying to find the transmitter. I think its 933MHz but probably still enough to corrupt any near-by signals. I guess even my HP-54G wasn't enough :P
