F.E.A.R. performance is P.O.O.R!

Can someone please help me figure out why FEAR is running so slowly on my computer? I have the top spec ACER 9920 which has

Dual Core T7700 2.4Ghz
Nvidia Geforce 8600 M GT 512mb
4GB RAM
500 GB Hard Drive

the graphics card is slightly overclocked and has 169.04 drivers. I get a better than average score for 3dmark 03 and 06. Games such as DOOM 3, company of heroes, black and white 2 and BIOSHOCK run at full res (1680 x 1050) and full settings at good frame rates!

FEAR on medium settings gets min fps 6 Max 8 Ave 8?!?!?!?
Even on minimum settings at 640x480 it is laggy?
 
Try increasing your resolution and playing with the CPU and Video Card settings under Custom Controls.

Mine was running choppy (still kinda does) but I just tweaked the settings a little and it's better than normal. (I run it on 1280x720)
