Fable TLC

I picked up Fable TLC and it says it detects 0mb of RAM on my system when I have 6GB. I click continue anyway and it keeps crashing on me.

Any ideas of what's wrong?

Go to wherever you installed the game (by default it's Program Files>Microsoft Games>Fable-The Lost Chapters) Right click on Fable.exe, click on properties and click on the compatability tab, then hit the check box that says run this program in compatability mode for: and select the right OS.

It detected 1GB of RAM that way. I'll try the patch once and see how that goes.

EDIT: I tried getting the patch but it said the udpate does not apply to my system. o_o

Well I found someone saying that Vista is missing a specific .dll file in DX 9 and that I should download DX 9.0c. Going to see how that turns out.

Also I tried running it in compatibility and it still crashed.

Sorry I got sidetracked :D yeah I saw that about installing dx 9, but I'm not sure how that would effect dx10, and it looks like microsoft discontinued support for fable, and took down all the official patches. At least as far as I can tell.

I could not find it anywhere, I googled around for about 15 minutes and all I found were CD cracks and mentions in forums about it. I've gotta say it was frustrating, someone else might jump into this thread that can help you better than I can.

Yeah, I think it's a 64bit issue because I have vista 32 and I run it just fine. You could also try updating your graphics card drivers, though I doubt it would do anything.

My drivers are up to date. I was thinking it might be a 64bit issue, but I looked around and others with 32bit have issues as well. It's an overall Vista issue.

Does it give you the option to run in safe mode? if so does it run fine that way or does it just go into game?

I tried safe mode with regular running, it crashed. I also ran safe mode and compatibility with XP SP2 and it crashed again.

I've been trying to install it on linux but an error comes up for the PID Generator DLL. I read that if you run Wine for windows 98 or 95 you can bypass the dll transplant, but I doubt Fable would run on anything lower than XP since it came out midway between XP release and Vista release.

just wondering, but did you find anywhere weither the game actually is compatible with Vista X64? (I have a few games that give me issues myself here,.. turned out all games that gave me problems just are not compatible. :(

Well I've read up on the issue and it seems that it's actually a problem with Vista itself, since 32bit Vista owners have problems as well. They apparently released a patch that fixed it, but it doesn't work for everyone.

From what I understand, Vista is missing a specific DX9 file that XP has or something to that effect.
