Ok, Recently you may of seen a thread about me struggling to get my Phenom over 2.4GHz without freezing. WELL, I just bought a new motherboard and RAM generally because my old one wasent very overclocking friendly and the chipset was always super hot, SO i went out and bought a Sapphire motherboard with 4GB Dominator RAM and guess what its added an extra 1000+ 3DMarks onto my score (HA) i was quite amused  But then i overclocked! and finally got OVER 2.4GHz and nearly reached 2.5GHz but Windows froze on boot so im now on 2.48GHz which is alright for my 2nd overclock i think!

OLD SPECS:

AMD Phenom 9550 X4 2.38GHz
ASUS ATi 4890
1TB Seagate Barracuda
GEIL 3GB RAM
Tuniq Tower 120
Gigabyte GA-M52L-S3 Mobo

NEW SPECS:

AMD Phenom 9550 X4 2.48GHz
ASUS ATi 4890
1TB Seagate Barracuda
4GB Dominator RAM
Tuniq Tower 120
Sapphie PURE CrossFireX 790GX Mobo

Sorry didnt realise the screenshots were that fuzzy If anyone has difficulty reading them just let me know ill upload better qaulity ones!

good stuff dude, its always good to get a little extra and not have to pay anything for it

Thanks mate! At the moment im looking into raising volatges to get a higher clock but im not as confident to go into that sort of stuff yet so ill do my research first :D

Just make sure you know what your max voltage is and your max heat is for your CPU and step up 1 at a time till you hit the wall.
Long as you don't pass your max voltage and heat you will be fine :)

I was reading 2.6ghz-2.8ghz was normal for your chip so its a good deal if you can reach that within safety. Either case congrats.

BTW is your overclock prime95/orthos stable?

Not as dangerous as you think.

It wasn't till I bought my Q6600 that I overclocked myself so I know the feeling of getting more for less outta your CPU ^_^

Haha im just a bit anxious is all on my last mobo i raised the voltage once and i had to reset the hole CMOS and restart my overclock because my GPU wouldnt boot up haha i think maybe that would be down the my PSU? Its a 520Watt Cooler Master?

I dunno....I always buy much more then I need...example I run a 750w Corsair when I was running a X2 4400+ and a 8800GT ^_^

Though it does sound like a energy issue unless your GPU is somehow auto-overclocking?

If you want a good stability tester, try linx (linpack with a visual interface).

Do not try it on a computer with a stock heatsink however...

Haha well to be fair my CPU and GPU are both overclocked ^.^
