Fallout 3: Thoughts and Questions

I started playing this game on the X Box 360 about a month ago and also installed the expansion pack for Oper. Anchorage with The Pitt.

I didn't really understand what kind of game this was at the start. SO, I was just playing along with the same reckless abandon I had with other "shooting games" like Halo or GTA-VC and SA. (GTA-VC is probably my favorite game ever.)

Soon though I realized that there was more to the game than just running about doing whatever. Like I killed the Overseer and then Burke without any thought and then SAVED! I thought since it showed good karma after killing Burke that there wouldn't be any problems. Damn that made certain things annoying later on.

But once I got the feel for the game I was a little more careful, except that I didnt have any kind of a guide or any understanding of all the stuff on the web. I wasted loads of ammo, I found and LOST items necessary for later quests, like the song book at the history museum.

And I also was leveling-up VERY fast. I made it to level 20 before I even got to the Waters of Life quest. I leveled up without thinking about skill books, bobble-heads, perks that influence, and clothing that help.

I have 100 in stats for things like science, lock-pick and small guns. But only 55 or 60 in repair skill. I could really use 100 in repair now since I am making so many schematic guns like the dart gun, or the railway rifle. I also have tons of guns! At least 5 Fat Man launchers, 30 hunting rifles, 5 or 6 .44 handguns, and 40 assault rifles. BUT, I cant repair any further than about 60-70%.

I also have TONS of apparel and cant do anything with it. Things like raider armor, combat armor, power armor, hats, clothes, sunglasses. I cant sell it to anyone because it would take FOREVER since most buyers only have a few hundred on them.

I have fixed up my place and made loads of special weapons and have found at least 40 of the nuka-cola quantum's. I have buttons wig and have taken the Declaration. of Independence., the Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights to Rivet City. I have all the Lincoln items.

SO I have gotten all the normal stuff, and got into "treasure hunting" by finding the "special" weapons like Vengeance, Eugene and the Reservists rifle. But now that I have nearly all of them there isnt much else to look for or do.

I have raided all the armories and all the military bases (with the exception of Raven Rock, obviously). I have been to almost every city and completed almost all the other quests. And I have all but 2 or 3 bobble-heads. I have so much in "aid" items like 80 stimpaks and 50 Rad-X and Rad-Away not to mention all the thousands of rounds of ammunition for every weapon.

So my question is...

What else is there to do apart from the BORING main quests now???

It may sound crazy but I have done them all. Except for the ones I cant do cause I either screwed them up early on by killing the people involved or I used the speech option already and told them to "stuff it". Or in some cases I'm not beginnning the quest because it would keep me from a supply of weapons like the Reservists rifle form to get the Oasis quest.

Not much to do then unless you want to discover all the locations : P
Or if you want you could buy the other two DLCs available for fallout 3
Broken Steel raises the level cap to 30 and you can join the Brotherhood Of Steel
And point lookout takes you to Point Lookout Maryland I believe

EDIT: And a new one comes out August 3rd which takes you aboard an alien ship

Oh man I cant wait for the Zeta expansion pack, it sounds pretty cool. I played and beat Area 51 in a few weeks and I loved all the cool alien stuff.

I just hope that the other exansion packs arent like Anchorage, UH. I hated Anchorage, it was so boring and easy. Like really simplified Halo gameplay.

About the only thing I truly hate about Fallout 3 are the really BORING dialogue choices. The dialogue is so DRY.

I like the weapons, but I wish there was some type of weapon that could be between the mini-gun and the chinese assault rifle. Something that could lay down a lot of fire but not be as slow, bulky as the minigun or feel as light and toy-ish as the assault rifles.

And what is the deal with the mini-gun being so weak in the damage respect. I wish I could have bought this game for the pc so that I could try to tweak stuff. I used to tweak other games like GTA-vc and SA so that there were better stats on things. I would add mods to my games, like the modified garage in VC by the ocean.

If I could I would add a vehicle or two to Fallout 3, and maybe a plane.

Oh I would, except that I only have a laptop. I cant run that game on it. I have the system requirements, but it gets to hot even running older games at high graphic levels. Its a fairly new computer, I got it last year. Its a Dell 1520 and I got all the best equipment on it I could like 3GB RAM and a nVIDIA 8600GT video card and a 2.2GHz Intel processor. I even set it on a rack to get it off the table and increase the cooling, which helped a lot but not enough.

I was wondering how well the game plays on your system since you only have about 2 GB RAM.

One day I'm just going to pickup a desktop that can run what I want and stay REALLY cool.

It plays really good on my pc.
I can get around 40-100 FPS with High to medium settings.
And my GPU only gets to about 53 celsius when running it.

So sort of off topic, but I saw that this game is 'games for windows live' compatible which means it cross platforms with the xbox360, but what exactly can you do in the cross platform x360 stuff?

You should get it for pc.
The GOTY edition comes out in October that's when I'm buying Fallout 3 again :D (To get the add ons)

Yeah, as it turns out I'm going to buy the Fallout 3 GOTY edition again for the same reason. You see, right now I'm pretty much stuck at level 20 and I don't want to continue playing because if I do then all I'll be doing is completing missions and killing people thus wasting experience points. And I don't want to do that until I get the Broken Steel expansion and raise my lvl cap to 30.
