I am building a computer myself with the basics and some added fans. I will have two front and one large top. My case has the power supply that is only hooked to the motherboard, right? Will i need a fan controller so the three fans hooked to the power supply dont always run? I dont want to unplug the computer from the back!

If you have a decent amount of fan headers on the mobo, I'd plug them in there. Motherboards do a decent job of moderating case fan speeds.

If you wanted to manually control the fan speed, then yes you would want a fan controller. It's easier to use one of those than a piece of software.

You can plug some fans to the motherboard and some to the power supply, when the computer is off evrything including the fans sohuld turn off,a fan controller is just a extra option for power and speed control.
