Fan Exchange in my DELL - will they be recognized?

Thinking of changing the fans in my DELL XPS-8100, since I can reach about 40C idle, and up to 55-60 C on load. Question is:

Does anyone have experience with fan changes in DELL or other OEM-computers, since I have heard that DELL is running proprietary fans and that stuff like Noctua, Arctic Cooling. Zalman and so forth would not be recognized by BIOS?

Those temperatures are perfectly fine for CPU or any other part. Including hard drive.

If the fans use a standard 3 pin or 4 pin fan connector, or a molex plug, then yes they will work. 4pin has PWM which will vary speed based on temperature of the CPU, which is why it always the main CPU fan. 3 pin fans will spin at full speed at all times (generally) so choose your fans wisely. And don't believe noise specs of CoolerMaster fans.

Older dell cases generally do have proprietary fans. But I think most of their newer cases don't, I could be wrong though. Generally if you're having heat problems you might try getting a can off compressed air and blowing out all the dust first, see if that helps. Or re-apply thermal compound. /Then/ see if you can replace the fans. Generally I only switch out fans if a bearing goes bad/its making noise.

All in all, Linkin is right. Those temps are fine.
