Current fan/heat sink on the CPU is real junk starts out at 50c and idle climbs to 60c+ runs WAY to hot...its a 90nm chip with a 90nm fan/heatsink stock with AS5 on the chip but the heat sink is getting way to hot way to fast. Example ran a hour via BIOS and went to 61c.

Also anyone know of a good CPU program to monitor temperatures?

Any advice on a better fan or if this one will do well for her pc would be a great help.

Her system specs are
Her system is
Athlon 64 4000+ 2.4ghz single core
256mb PCI-e EVGA 7600GT
430 wat PSU
4gb PC3200 memory
Mother board Nforce 410/430 MCP
Vista Home

Also in a emachine case (her original PC) model number is T6528

ok some good programs are:

Hwmonitor,
and
Coretemp.

But please know, that the BIOS is the best way to monitor temps actually, and these programs will only give u a less accurate temp. Also...did u build that system and place it in that case? or was it pre-built like that. I dont think a prebuilt model should run that hot. also, check out some zalman cpu coolers, they are the best. And did u use the as5 correctly? I knw that ur temps are way too friggin hot. Might wanna have a reseat

Well it was pre-built my sister bought one of those T6528 models from best buy and over the years she acquired my old parts.

I added in the 7600GT the memory and the processor is new just added it. The old 3500+ she had died on her so I got her this as a surprise.

Also I agree I am dumb founded on this one...I never seen it run so hot before.

the chip is this one right here.

Best upgrade I could find with her 939 model.

Also I did add the As5 correctly I put my heat sink on after putting some on the CPU then took a card and evenly spread it over the entire chip. Seemed to work well on previous upgrades on my own system.

Well after looking at all the Zalmans on Tigerdirect/newegg for a 939 socket board it seems very little out there..only 2

I figure with a 120mm fan should do better to keep the processor cooler since it will be in 80-90 temperature house during the hottest summer days. so looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118115 that is if I can take the backing off my motherboard.
