Hey guys i currently have a Sempron (see sig) and its socket 939, im getting a X2 3800+ OEM. Im not going to be overclocking since my PC is Compaq brand... Could you guys recommend me a low budget fan that could work with this CPU??

Thanks, any advice greatly appretiated...

The highly favored for tight budgets is the Artic Cooling Freezer64 Pro running about $30-33 normally is now seen for the lower cost of $26 at http://www.coolerguys.com/840556058274.html That will go on easily enough.

For other things besides OCing like running video capturing and multimedia apps that can place heavy loads on a cpu even more then games the Zalman CNPS 9500 would generally be the one recommended here. That will run at the higher price however as seen for $56.95 at http://www.coolerguys.com/840556025061.html

Regardless of the make and model you go with grab some Artic Silver 5 for price saving there. That is only supposedly outdone by the LiquidPro that usually sees double the price. The paste that is generally included with them is quite often "low end".

Thanks PC eye, i forgot about the thermal paste, but thanks for the info... Im going with the lower one, since i really dont want to spend too much. Thanks :)

It looks OK given the price, and should certainly work for you. For an extra $2, I've heard good things about the Arctic Cooling Alpine64.

EDIT: I've merged your two threads. PC Eye's suggestion of the Freezer 64 Pro is a very good one, and would be my favorite at that price as well. I suggest you decide on your budget first.

I had a Freezer 64 for my previous Athlon 4000 and it did well. But honestly, the stock coolers included with Athlon processors aren't that bad. My x2 4200 stays under 40*C, and that's with the stock cooler and thermal pad.

I gave up on stock coolers due to loads placed on the cpu here. But once you get the 3800+ X2 model in you will also want to keep an eye on board temps to see if those climb. When going from a Socket A board to the 939 now in use the idle temps jumped from 38-39C to 48C on the new one. The Zalman 9500 still wasn't enough to see the 46C cpu idle temps go down either. A new case with extra case fans worked for the stock build here.
