Fan Questions

A question....

Why does a fan have two connections? and also (stupid question) How do you tell to which side it blows air to? :P

What do you mean why does it have two connections? I think you're referring to the molex connector, and a second connector that some fans have, that allow you to plug the fan into the mobo, but I'm not quite sure....do you have pics?

As for which side it blows air...look at the fan blades and try to see which makes more sense. But if you can't tell...just plug it in and turn it on, and see which way the air is blowing.

:( No I dont have pics of it, since I dont have a camera.

It is a 4-Pin Connections.... but one has where it goes in (female) and one with the pins (male)

Ill test it later when I can turn it on then.

Most fans have arrows, but most fans also blow towards the motor/supports. This would probably be blowing in your face :P

As for the two connections, I'd have to see it, but maybe it's just so you don't use up your molex plugs? Some devices like that have both male and female so you could say daisy-chain the fans together. That or plug the fan in first, then plug the other connection into say your HD...

Hehe. Nice example. Thanks. Ill see what I do with it then :D

that's surprising. i've never seen a fan without one. are you sure you're looking hard enough? i mean, they're little, and part of the plastic, so they blend in real well. anyway, check this out:

i have already tried doing that one with 3 fans, It give only less air compaired to a single fan, all fans must rotate at the same time if 1 fan falls behind it causes problem with air flow. it will only work if the first fan spins first and then the second and third and so.

it's just a funny pic i found guys. i actually use a zalman cnps 9500. the owner of the pc in the pic is unknown.

Ohhh, I understand what you mean now....

There are two connectors for a very simple reason...if you plug the fan into the wires from your power supply, it takes up one of those connectors that you might need for drives, etc. So, it gives you another male connector so you don't lose that connector, and have enough to power all your....things.

Aa I see so I can just connect any that I want. Ok

so that you wont ran out of connectors for your PSU, if you have lots drives like cd, hdd.

Thats no problem for me. :D Have one DVD.....Optical Drive. 1 HDD. Maybe one fan controller.

Thanks all

(Man I love this forum)
