Fanless PC components

Hi guys, I wonder if you could help a newbie evaluate the assembly of components below. I'm planning to use Linux for most things, but with windows installed, too, for when it is needed. I do not need the heaviest games, but would like the thing to handle multimedia well. I have no understanding of compatibility issues, but this was recommendeed to me:

- Akasa Newton X case for Intel NUC D34010WYB/D54250WYB (fanless)
- Intel D54250WYB NUC Motherboard w/ Intel i5-4250U - BLKD54250WYB (Single Pack)
- 2 x Kingston KVR16LS11/4 DDR3L-1600 MHz PC3-12800 4GB SODIMM 204-pin Notebook Memory
- SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-MTE250BW mSATA 250GB SATA III TLC Solid State Drive (SSD)
- Intel Network 7260.HMWWB WiFi Wireless-AC 7260 H/T Dual Band 2x2 AC+ Bluetooth

hmm. it seems what your showing is a system running with a mini board "all in one motherboard with cpu inbuilt".

if your wanting it quiet and small why not consider a mini-ATX sized system.
There is really no need for the miniboard and from what i can see its really quite costly with a notebook processor which isnt the best.

have a look at a mini-atx system on google to get a rough idea. this can easily incorporate a much better processor while also being quite a tiny little thing. You can put in silent fans for the cpu cooler and around the case if needed. When set up right it will be small but still quiet and better performing than the miniboard.

id still stick with the 840 evo, maybe put a 1-2tb seagate barracuda hdd for installing everything else on. you may need to change the RAM for full sized desktop memory.

id suggest a gpu as the miniboard will only run hd 5000 graphics which in terms of gaming, rendering etc it wont perform very well.

if you agree to a MINI-ATX sized system im sure someone can put you together a list depending on your budget.

It's not a completely silly idea, to be honest. The CPU is a 2.6GHz dual core with HyperThreading running Haswell architecture.
The GPU is enough for some games, like CS:GO, but not Battlefield 3/4.
I would however listen to Tyler, unless you plan on mounting the PC on the back of a monitor, or something like that.
