I'd like to buy 4 new fans for my new H100i cooling unit so that I can set up a push-pull configuration. What should I look for? I need fans with great performance, but it would be nice if they were not terribly loud. Can anyone recommend some good fans?
I use these for my push pull. Really though, there isn't a huge benefit for push pull for a thin radiator like the H100i has. I had extra so I just tossed them on.
Buying new I would pick between gentle typoon 1850 RPM or 1450 RPM, Corsairs SP120 High performance or Noctua's NF-F12s. Just get 2 fans and have them as a pull on the H100i
Id do a pull only to make cleaning easier, as the gains from push pull in most cases are negligible...nothing to lose sleep over. thats what i run and i max out around 50C with my h100 with quiet settings
Gentle Typhoons and Noctuas are always a solid choice, pretty quiet, decent static pressure/airflow. Depending on the noise level of other fans in your computer though, the difference that some other fans may make is usually fairly negligible.
It's also still difficult to best the Medium speed Yate's for price/performance. Slightly better airflow than the high speed gentle typhoons on a radiator, fairly quiet fans as well. They're well suited to the type of radiator you've got (thin, fairly low fins per inch). You're not going to see huge gains though going push pull, you might see a few °C drop under load.
