Far Cry 2 crashing, need help

Well, this is way beyond me. I love Far Cry 2, but I am having issues with it. I will be playing, suddenly it freezes, 10 seconds later, screen goes blank and within 5 seconds or so, I am playing again. My fan on my GPU goes back to default (using RivaTuner to put up the fan). After that it will keep playing for a while. Sometimes its worse than others. Sometimes, the game wont come back, I have to close it by alt+F4 or task manager. Also, DirectX is no longer usable and I have to restart the computer. Its ONLY with this game. So far I have:

Not used RivaTuner
Turned graphics down
Updated drivers
Patched FC2

Could it be a mem issue? I know its not dust, I just put this system together AND its ONLY FC2.

FC2 is just a buggy game. even when i had the latest patches and drivers, it would crash every 2-3 hours with no errors. also had graphics glitches and slowdowns.

I suppose you could try and reinstall, that fixed my issues a few times.
