3DMark06 already utilizes the dual core procxessors. The_Other_One said that he's not gonna buy one until more programs take advantage of them.geoff5093 said:Just have a look at 3DMark06, a dual core processor is extremely better in the cpu test than a single core, and more games are going to be multi-threaded/
I don't think getting a higher score in a program is a goos us of a dual core processergeoff5093 said:Just have a look at 3DMark06, a dual core processor is extremely better in the cpu test than a single core, and more games are going to be multi-threaded/
The_Other_One said:*nods* Oh I use premiere a good bit which utilizes duel processors, but I have yet to find any progoram where I NEED duel processors. Once it's more mainstream, I'll consider it. But just as with SLI, I feel it's a waste for something I won't really ever use...

AM2 is a socketAM2 you mean?
You sound pretty sure about that. Lets not forget the FX60, FX62 and the Windsor 4200,4600,4800, the new Opteron 1xx, the Manilla 3000,3200,3400,3600,3800They will also be debuting with an X2 5000+ (which is hopefully what I'm going to get
Thats prolly because you dont make full use of one core yet let alone twoI still don't like duel core...I guess it'll kick in soon enough, but untill it's truely utilized, it's more of a waste IMO.
Especially since, you know, 3dMark06 is such a good game and all....Just have a look at 3DMark06, a dual core processor is extremely better in the cpu test than a single core, and more games are going to be multi-threaded/
You'll need to wait until an operating system needs it (which will be a hell of a long time) because until that point, no matter how threaded a program gets, a singlecore based operating system will still schedule it for a single core (which means yes your performance will be stupid but... as you say.. you wont NEED multiple processors)but I have yet to find any progoram where I NEED duel processors.
Assuming of coruse that program utilizes both coresit only really increases something that uses a lot of processing power
People say a lot of things. Multithreaded games have been out for some time nowpeople keep saying that games will be multi threaded..........how do you guys know this?
Manilla based chips are singlecorealso, does anyone know if the new m2 socket cpus will all be dual core or if there will be some single cores?
After patchingIt does.
