Faster defrag software?

I use defraggler atm, and I have a 500GB HD and it takes about 2 years to do a defrag.

I know I shouldn't expect the defrag to be quick because there is so much stuff, but surely there must be faster defrag software?

My 250gb takes about ~5 minutes to defrag... I would suggest using CCleaner to clean out your computer as defraggler is most likely defragging them as well.

did it make any differance to your computer griffin??:D no seriously man, even the windows own built in defragger would be quicker, and yes i know you have a big hard drive but the one you use is not worth doing it with lol.;)

I have used several defragging apps.
The one I mainly use now is a freeware app.

I like it better than the microshaft defragger.
It has more options. Give it a try.
Also if you are short on free space defragging will take a long time.
The longest it has taken me to defrag my 1TB drives was about 2 hours and it was seriously fragmented.
I now defrag every couple of weeks and it only takes about 10 minutes.

noob, I started in '02 and it's still going - and it's only 40GB.

:o

But, it depends entirely on how fragmented it is, and also if you have any stuff open on it - if a program keeps writing stuff on it, it keeps constantly restarting/going back to do some stuff (well depends on circumstances, not strictly always), which slows it down heaps.

I also agree Auslogics Disk Defrag is the best I have used. They have a quick defrag and a more detailed defrag you can choose from.

I usually do the detailed defrag every 1-2 weeks. It simply puts everything closer to one another.
